Life with a little one..Do you have a Routine?
Hope everyone is doing well inshAllah. As you know, I had a beautiful boy, Salahudeen, a few months ago, February 8th. I have been so busy that I forgot to write in my blog. Alhamdulillah everything is going well, and my little one is growing so fast. He now holds things in his hands and laughs alot..yay! I am still trying to form a routine but find it so hard since I am up a few times throughout a night to feed Salahudeen, who conveniantly sleeps next to me ( no, I haven't squashed him yet, Alhamdulillah lol). So throughout the day I do get tired and when when its time for his nap and I am hushing him to sleep, I end up falling asleep before he does. I try to fit in 30 minutes a day of exercise using fitness dvds, but even then its hard. I'll post the fitness dvds that I do in the next post InshAllah if you would like to know. Anyway, would love to know how your day goes from the time you wake up to the time you sleep. Do you have a set routine and a set time to wake up and sleep? =)

Pregnancy..peoples experiences wanted!
Hope everyone is enjoying themselves in this blessed month of Shaban! Only a few more days until Ramadan, Alhamdulillah! Well, first of all, I'd like to mention that I found out that I was 5 weeks pregnant almost 3 weeks ago , which makes me 7 and a half weeks pregnant :)Alhamdulillah. I wasn't planning on having children anytime soon, so it was a shock to both my husband and I. But we are both very happy and accepting of this, as it is not entirely in our hands to control when we want children. I know its still early days..and that I am going to have my first ultrasound next Wednesday, but I would still love to hear other sisters personal experiences of pregnancies and birth. Also, did anyone fast during their first trimester? I am not getting many symptoms that usually occur during the first trimester, also I do get the odd nauseaus feelings at times. Am keeping my fitness up too by following special prenatal workouts and going to the gym! Anyway, can't wait to hear all your experiences soon InshAllah! xoxo

Easy Peasy DIY tinted lipbalm!
I was going through someones blog, and I saw a post on how to make your own lipgloss! I've been wanting to do this but just never had the time. Well I made the attempt to do it so here you are:
Things you will need:
Paw Paw ointment or Vaseline.
Lipstick of any colour.
A little pot or any container to put the lipbalm in.
A little cup or bowl to stir the ingredients in.
A spoon, microwave and fridge/freezer!
First, break of a small piece of the lipstick, and take about 2 to 3 teaspoons of Paw Paw ointment/vaseline and put it in a pot.The ratio of lipstick to paw paw ointment/vaseline is about 1:3 or 4 , depending on how dark or light you want it.
Now take a spoon and stir it until the colour is consistent throughout the mixture.
Once that is done, wait for about 30 minutes or so. You want it to be hard / solid when it comes out, so check it every now and again to see if its as hard as you want it to be.The result:
Anyways have fun experimenting! XOXO
Romance! Love! Who really is our role model?

One time or another, in between our busy lives, we would think about love. Whether we are reminded of it from the television, or from people around us, or even within our own family, spouse etc, we would somehow find our paths crossing with it. But what really does love mean. And who is the best person to represent love and romance. You may be thinking of various actors from movies or shows, and the romatic/love scene they were acting out, or perhaps it may even be phrases from poems, or maybe people's stories of how they spent their Valentines Day with their spouses/partners.
Yes, I know, all these scenes, poems, and stories are romantic, and they do make us go "Awww", but after reading an article posted on muslimmatters.org called The Sunnah of Love at http://muslimmatters.org/2011/10/28/yahya-ibrahim-the-sunnah-of-love/, I finally realized that this is actually part of our religion, Islam, and that the Prophet (pbuh) was affectionate, compassionate and loving to his wives. And this was not just any person, this was Allah (swt)'s Messenger, and he is the one the represents what Islam is about! Let me give you a glimpse of some of the ways the Prophet (pbuh) expressed this love:
The Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam mended his own shoes at times. What you may not have heard was how once as he was sitting in a room with 'Aisha raḍyAllāhu 'anha fixing his shoes, 'Aisha happened to look to his blessed forehead and noticed that there were beads of sweat on it. Mesmerized by the majesty of that sight she remained transfixed staring at him long enough for him to notice.
The Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam said, “What's the matter?” She replied, “If Abu Bukair Al-Huthali, the poet, saw you, he would know that his poem was written for you.” The Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam asked, “What did he say?” She replied,
“Abu Bukair said that if you looked to the majesty of the moon, it twinkles and lights up the world for everybody to see.”
So the Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam got up, walked to Aisha, kissed her between the eyes, and said,
“Wallahi ya Aisha, you are like that to me and more.”
And another:
'Aisha raḍyAllāhu 'anha and the Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam would use code language with each other denoting their love. She asked the Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam how he would describe his love for her. The Prophet Muḥammad answered, saying: “Like a strong binding knot.” The more you tug, the stronger it gets, in other words.
Every so often 'Aisha would playfully ask, “How is the knot?” The Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam would answer, “As strong as the first day (you asked).”
Now, this is the Prophet (pbuh) that we are talking about here! Sometimes I get frustrated when I read articles regarding marriage, and the advice for men is only 1 page and the advice for women is 5 pages! Like literally! I was reading through one of the Islamic magazines they publish here in Australia, and I was so shocked at the amount of Hadith they quoted when it came to the advice for women part! Each statement was a hadeeth and there were 40 hadeeth all together. No kidding! And when it came to the advice for men part, there was no hadeeth! I thought they would at least quote the Prophet (pbuh) famous words from his last sermon stating:
"Be kind to women-you have rights over your wives, and they have rights over you." Treat your women well, and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers" (Bukhari).
But, this article did not even quote that statement! And some of the things they wrote in the advice for women were quite shocking and too gruesome to write on here!
Anyways, for those who want to read of some of the ways the Prophet (pbuh) had expressed his love, go to :

Handcrafted Skin Products made with Essential Oils

Ok, I have recently tried to convert myself into an organic natural green girl although I am still struggling! Many of the natural products selling in natural stores are quite expensive, including one which I am actually a representative of (Miessence). Although I must admit, once I used Miessence products which are organic and natural, my skin cleared up alot! So anyways, I went to do some research on some of the ingredients which I found were in the Miessence products, such as various essential oils and carrier oils and I was quite suprised that these essential oils actually help regenerate skin cells and clear the skin, resulting in clear, flawless skin! Here is some of the information which I had found:
- Carrot Seed Essential Oil contain antioxidants. It repair all the damages done to your tissues by the oxidants (free radicals) and stop them from doing further harm. The antioxidants reduces the pace of ageing and appearance of wrinkles on the skin. It was also known as "The fountain of youth" by the Romans and Greeks.
- Sandalwood Essential Oil has wonderful moisturizing and hydrating properties, which are great for anti-ageing skincare. The toning effect is also useful when fighting oily skin.
- Rosewood Essential Oil helps in the regeneration of the skin. It eliminates the stretch marks and has the ability to contract your skin and regenerate the skin tissues, thereby helping in maintaining healthy and beautiful skin. This oil also lifts up the loosened facial skin, thereby removing wrinkles and making you look younger.
- Rose Geranium Essential Oil helps to balance the secretion of sebum and clears sluggish and oily skins. It also helps with acne and dermatitis.
- Lavender Essential Oil helps clear the skin by fighting bacteria and reducing inflammation.
- Almond Oil contains Vitamin E which prevents cell damage. Almond oil is also high in antioxidents which helps reduce wrinkles, softens and moisturies the skin and also reduces acne and other blemishes.
There is one other thing which also amazes me. Allah (swt) has created all these beautiful trees and plants, yet its not just their appearance which makes them beautiful. They also have a beautiful smell, texture, and most importantly, they provide us with so many uses! They have a tremendous amount of medicinal properties and help cure various ailments. Allay says in the Quran:
"Then let human beings look at their food, that We pour forth water in abundance, and We split the earth in clefts, and We cause therein the grain to grow, and grapes and clover plants (green fodder for the cattle), and olives and date palms, and gardens, dense with many trees, and fruits and herbage (greens), (to be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle." (Quran 80: 24-32).
Subhanallah, sometimes when we smell, look, feel and ponder upon something beautiful, we must always ultimately remember Allah, as He is the one who had provided us with all these things and these are all signs in order to ponder over His Oneness, Greatness, and His Mercy. Alhamdulillah!

Superfood: Hot chocolate!

So I had recently bought raw organic cacao powder and had been meaning to post up the great benefits of this superfood. Not only does it make hot chocolate extra chocolaty compared to the processed ones, but it is full of antioxidents! Now, who wouldn't say no to a cup of hot chocolate full of antioxidants! So these are the benefits which I have read about regarding raw organic cacao powder. Let me know if you know of any which I haven't mentioned! Benefits:
- More antioxident flavonoids than blueberries, red wine, black and green teas! Can you believe that it has 4 times more antioxidants than green tea! I guess its time to ditch the green tea and stock up on cacao powder!
- It promotes cardiovascular health.
- Protect from environmental and metabolic toxins.
- It promotes a positive outlook.
- It raises levels of serotonin, thus acting as an antidepressant and reduce PMS symptoms (YAY!),
- It stimulates the secretion of endorphins, which we all know produces a pleasurable feeling especially after exercise!
- It contains phenylethylamine, which is a mood elevatorand antidepressant, as well as promoting focus and alertness. Interesting fact: Phenylethylamine is also created within the brain, and is released when we are...in Lurrrrrrveee !
- It increases the levels of anandamide, which promotes relaxation and the feeling of wellbeing.
- It also contains essential minerals such as magnesium (balances brain chemistry, builds strong bones, and helps regulate heartbeat and blood pressure), sulfur ( sulfur builds strong nails and hair, promotes beautiful skin, detoxifies the liver, and supports healthy pancreas functioning!), calcium, iron, zinc, copper, potassium and manganese.
2 teaspoons raw organic cacao powder.
2 teaspoons sugar or sweetner (or to taste).
200 ml milk (I use whole milk, but low fat milk will taste just as great!).
Now just add the cacao powder and sugar, stir in milk and heat in the microwave for 1.30 mins to 2 mins depending on the power of your microwave. Then once its done stir it and you've got a healthy, full of antioxident cup of hot chocolate! Also, although I haven't tried this, you can also heat the milk up first then add the cacao powder and sugar...which ever suits you!!!

Your weightloss/fitness method!

I've recently downloaded an application on my iphone called "fitness pal". In just two weeks of using it, I have lost 3kg!! It has a large food database comprising of over a millions different foods, so you just type in what you ate, and it will search for a matching food with the amount of calories (its a calorie counting type application). You also write in what exercises you did for the day and the calories you had burnt. It also provides you with how many calories to eat per day-depending on your height, weight, and how many kgs or pounds you aim to lose per week! I absolutely love this application! My goal weight is 55kg (I am 162cm tall), and I've got 5kg to go until I'm done! I go to the gym as often as I could, as I really enjoy working out, and doing group classes, especially Zumba! ! I'd like to know how important diet and fitness is to you, and if you had at any time lost weight, and would like to share your method and the types of exercises you do?

Why choose organic health and beauty?
- It is good for the soil!
- Good for the environment-depending on non renewable resources
- Good for people-organic based ingredients have been showen in a number of studies to contain more vitamins, nutrients and cancer fighting antioxidents as compared to non organic.

The subconscious mind..an unlimited potential! Part 2
Allah states in the Quran:
"And surely, We have destined many of the jinns and humans for Hell. They have hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear (the truth). They are like cattle, nay even more astray:those, they are the heedless ones!" (Quran 7:179).
Our subconscious mind is sensitive to suggestions, not being able to negotiate or differentiate or barter, it merely acccepts messages of the conscious mind. This is the only route any information can reach the subconscious mind. What does this mean? This means that with our will, we have the ability to filter the suggesstion received, stored and executed by our subconscious.
A good example of this that Ayad (2008) had provided in her book "Healing Body and Soul" was her ability to learn how to drive. She had urged her parents to teach her, and although she had lessons for weeks, she could not control the car, being too scared. When she sat down and really thought about it, she realized that no female members of her family could drive, having all failed. Hence, without realizing it she subconsciously thought that since she was a female member of the family, she too won't be able to learn how to drive. It took her a while to erase this negative attitude from her mind and replace it with a powerful belief that she was capable of doing it. Thus once she was able to mentally accept this new suggesstion, her subconscious powers began to act accordingly, and she soon got her license.

The subconcious mind... An unlimited potential!

It has been a while since I have written in my blog...and I have finally found some spare time! I have recently been reading the book "Healing Body and Soul" by Amira Ayad, and it had a vast amount of tips for getting the best out of your body and soul. It covers topics such as diet and nutrition, stress, detoxification, exercise, Lifestyle changes, neurolinguistic programming and many others while implementing Islamic practices in this lifestyle change. One of the topics I found interesting was "The subconcious mind". How often do we really stop and think of our brains/mind potential, especially in times of distress or difficult challenges. Do we usually try to tackle the situation straight away or do we just stress about it..waiting for a light bulb to light up and give us the answers. What about when we are sick? How do we act? How do we recover? Do we teach our minds to think positively to help with the recovery, or do we carry on with our crankiness and let the pills do its job? In this book, Ayad explains about the two levels of the mind:
- The Concious level- which is our perception of what happens around us, our rational thinking as well as our behaviours.
- The Subconcious level-described as our back up system, the storage unit of our emotions. Positive thoughts produce prosperity and bliss, while negative thoughts result in troubles and distress.
Belief!
Whatever you believe in, your subconcious mind will take this on board and your physical body, health and emotion will undoubtedly act upon this belief. Hence, your own mind can either lift you to happiness, or be your own downfall. The subconcious mind does not subject to logical thinking, it brings into being whatever you have true faith and belief in. This is why it is vital to give your mind positive and harmonious thoughts.
A prime example of this "positive thinking" could be seen in the way the Prophet (SAW) had address his daughter Fatima when she and her husband Ali ( May peace be upon them) had asked the Prophet (SAW) for a servant as their housework was becoming unbearable. The Prophet (SAW) sat gently beside them and taught them the Zhikr- Subhanallah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times and Allahu Akbar 34 times, to be read every night before bedtime. He then further said " The following morning, you will find within yourself the strength to perform all the needed work". Fatima and Ali both practiced this with total faith and had felt they no longer needed a servant. (Abd al-Kafy, 2005-2006).
This article is to be continued....

Are we practicing Muslims really fundamentalists?
Fundamentalist is derived from the word fundamentals. A person that follows the fundamentals of anything, be it a doctor following the fundamentals of medicine in order to treat the physical body, or a person following the fundamentals of Islam, or a robber following the fundamentals of robbing techniques are all known as fundamentalist.
Are some Muslims fundamentalists?
Yes.
Does this mean that those Muslims are bad?
No. If a Muslim is following the correct fundamentals of Islam, they are on the right path. There is not a single verse of the Glorious Quran which cause any harm to humanity. Examples of verses of the Quran are as below:
Regarding Charity:
"And be steadfast in prayer: practice regular charity." (Qur'an 2:43)
"And be regular in prayer, and regular charity: And whatever good you send forth for your souls before you (from this life), you shall find it with Allah: Surely, Allah sees well all that you do." (Qur'an 2.110)
Regarding treatment of women:
"Do not give away the property, which Allah has made as a means of support for (all of) you, to those weak of understanding (and the unwise), but feed and clothe them with it, and speak to them words of kindness and justice." (Quran 4:5)
Regarding polygamy and justice between wives:
"If you fear you will not be able to act justly with the orphan (girls), then marry other women of your choice, two, or three, or four; But if you fear that you will not be able to deal justly (with them), then marry only one, or (a captive) that your right hand possess. That will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice." (Quran 4:3)
Regarding parents/ kinship/neighbours:
"Serve Allah, and do not join any partners with Him; and do good to parents, (relatives) kinfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near to you in kin, neighbours who are strangers, the companion by your side, the way farer (you meet), and what your right hand possess: For Allah does not love the arrogant, the boasters" (Quran 4:36)
Regarding justice:
"O' you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and do not let the hatred of others to make your swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to Piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well acquainted with all that you do."(Qur'an 5:8)
"...Whenever you speak, speak justly, even if a near relative is concerned..." (Quran 6:152)
Regarding gossip:
"...Nor speak ill of each other behind their back. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, you would abhor it. But fear Allah, for Allah is oft Returning, Most Merciful." (Qur'an 49:12)
These are but a few verses out of the thousands of holy verses of the Qur'an. Now tell me, if all humanity followed these simple guidelines, would humanity be what it is today?

Issue of keeping a dog in the home!
I have noticed lately that many Muslims are unaware of the rulings of keeping a dog in the house. First of all, there is a scientific reason for which backs up the reason we should not keep dogs. The tapeworm grows to the full size in the tonsils of dogs, and causes chronic diseases.
SubhanAllah, the Prophet knew this 1400 yrs ago, which is why it is not allowed in the homes. There is a hadith which states :
Aishah (RA) said:
"Jibreel (Gabriel) promised to come to the Prophet at a certain time. That time came and went, and he did not come. The Prophet was holding a stick in his hand, which he threw aside, saying, 'Allah does not break His promise and neither do His messengers.' Then he turned around and saw a puppy underneath his bed. He said, 'When did this dog get in?' I said, 'By Allah, I did not even notice it. He gave orders that it should be taken out, and it was removed. Then Jibreel came to him, and the messenger of Allah said, 'You promised to come and I was waiting for you, but you did not come.' He gave orders that it should be taken out, and it was removed. He said, 'The dog that was in your house prevented me. We do not enter a house where there is a dog or image." (Muslim, 14/81, Kitaab al-Libaas waz-Zeenah,baab tahreem tasweer al-hayawaan).
Abu Talhah (RA) said that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:
"The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image". (Ibid, 743).
The hadith of Ibn 'Umar (RA) stated that " I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say:
'Whoever keeps a dog, unless it is a dog for hunting or herding livestock, his reward will decrease by two qiraats every day.'" (Bukhari and Muslim).
Therefore, keeping dogs just for pleasure is not allowed in Islam. We should forward that pleasure to our families and friends, who really deserve it, and recieve plenty of rewards inshAllah!

Above is the photo of the canine tapeworm found in dogs.

Quran as Cure ...Good Things To Know for Muslims.
1) Hazrat Muhammad s.a.w.(PBUH) says that 'if a person recite ' Ayatal Kursi' after every Farz Namaz then there will be nothing between him and Heaven except Death'
2) There is a Hadith that says 'La Haula Wala Quuata illa billahilaliyul azeem' is such a great medicine that it cures every disease and the most minor disease it cures is 'Sorrow' (Gham).
3) Another Hadith says 'if a person recite surah ikhlaas (QUL huwallahuahad... ) 10 times in a day then Allah build a palace for him in the Heaven.(Subhaan Allah)'
How simple it is to get such lavish rewards! MashAllah!
What if Allah...

What if Allah decided to stop leading us tomorrow because we didn't follow Him today?
What if we never saw another flower bloom because we grumbled when Allah sent the Rain?
What if Allah didn't walk with us today because we failed to recognize it as His day?
What if, Allah took away the Quraan tomorrow because we would not recite it today?
What if, Allah took away His message because we failed to listen to the messenger?
THINK ABOUT THIS ONE.........
What if, the door of the Quraan was closed because we did not open the door of our heart?
What if, Allah stopped loving and caring for us because we failed to love and care for others?
What if, Allah would not hear us today because we would not listen to Him?
What if, Allah answered our prayers the way we answer His call to Salaah?
What if, Allah met our needs the way we give Him our lives?
Alhamdulilah, Allah is all Merciful, Kind, Forgiving, Powerful and many more. He has given us everything, why don't we stop complaining and use that time and energy to do more useful things such as Thanking Allah and worshipping Him and following His commands, because at the end of they day, Allah is the one who has given us life and all thats in it, and we must try our best to do good! InshAllah!
9 things people do that are annoying! (very funny)
1. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.... I know where my watch is pal, where the heck is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?
2 People who are willing to get off their butt to search the entire room for the T.V. remote because they refuse to walk to the T.V. and change the channel manually.
3 When people say 'Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too'. You got that right buddie! What good is cake if you can't eat it?
4 When people say 'it's always the last place you look'. Of course it is. Why the heck would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this?
5 When people say while watching a film 'did you see that?'. No Loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the stupid floor.
6 People who ask 'Can I ask you a question?'.... Didn't really give me a choice there, did ya sunshine?
7. When something is 'new and improved!' Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new.
8 When people say 'life is short'. What the heck?? Life is the longest thing anyone ever does!! What can you do that's longer?
9 When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks 'Has the bus come yet?'. If the bus came, would I still be standing here?
Hahahaha very funny! Hope everyone had a good laugh!
